Children in foster care are there because of economical family hardships and/or having been abused by neglect, physical, emotional, abandonment or sexual abuse.

The foster care program is designed to give a child a safe place to call home.  While a child is in care, programs can be put into place to allow the biological families to mend their "situations".  Therefore, allowing the possibility of a successful reunification.

If that goal is not met, then the child may become eligible for adoption.  Some may stay in the system up until they're of legal adult age.

Can we afford to keep on turning away from this never-ending epidemic?  Can we afford to keep letting these children down?  How else is the world ever going to begin to change?
